Ga. Code 40-6-291. Traffic Laws Applicable to Bicycles

    All laws that apply to motorist on the roadway, except D.U.I. apply to all bicyclists.
    Example: You must stop at all redlights and stop signs as vehicles must.

Ga. Code 40-6-292. Manner of riding bicycle; carrying more Than one person.

    (a) No one riding a bicycle shall ride upon the handlebars.
    (b) No bicycle shall be used to carry more persons at one time than the number for which it is equipped and designed.

Ga. Code 40-6-293. Clinging to vehicles.

    No person riding upon any bicycle,roller skates,sled or toy vehicle shall attach the same or himself to any vehicle upon the roadway.

Ga. Code 40-6-294. Riding on Roadways and Bicycle Paths.

    (a)Every person riding a bicycle upon the roadway shall ride as near to the right side of the roadway as practical, exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.
    (b)Persons riding on the roadways shall not ride more than two abreast.

Ga. Code 40-6-295. Carrying Articles.

    No person operating a bicycle shall carry any package, bundle, or other article which keeps him from keeping at least one hand on the handlebars.

Ga. Code 40-6-296. Lights and other equiptment on bicycles.

    Every bicycle when in use at night-time shall be equipped with a light on the front which will emit a white light visible from a distance of 300 feet from the front and with a red reflector on the rear which shall also be visable from a distance of 300 feet.

Ga Code 40-6-297. Reflectors on pedals of bicycles.

    The reflector on each pedal shall be so designed and situated as to be visiable from a distance during darkness of 200 feet.

Ga.Code 40-6-298. Violation of part a misdemeanor; duty of parents and guardians.

    (a) It is a misdemeanor for any person to do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act required in this part.
    (b) The parent of any child and the guardian of any ward shall not authorize or knowingly permit such child or ward to violate any provisions of this chapter.
